 | 12:43 am - (Fic) Bedtime Stories for Grownups: How Patrick Gangbanged My Chemical Romance Bedtime Stories for Grownups: How Patrick Gangbanged My Chemical Romance by Jane St Clair 7 April 2008
MCR/Patrick Stump (with Pete on the phone, just because) Filthy Not true.
Takes off from mimesere's story Pretty In Ink, in which Pete was heard to say, "You gangbanged My Chemical Romance?" Of course, Patrick didn't, not then. Here he does. I wrote this as a bedtime for mimesere, to make her happy and because I love her.
( It's like sex pollen, but without the dubious consent issues! )

 | 03:56 pm - the internet is really, really great... *flails happily*
As the drafting of my dissertation proposal continues, I just realized that I'm proposing an entire chapter on the nature and evolving understanding of internet porn.
How good is it to be me?

 | 11:45 pm - there's no subject index for it In many ways, I consider it really unfortunate that I can't analyse porn and give conference papers on it. Or at least, not the way I want to. I can certainly make generalizations and explain what porn means on a socio-cultural level, but I'd probably be talking through my hat, because people usually are when they talk about porn that way. What I mean is that I want to "read" (as we say in the lit biz) particular porn films and give papers on them. Possibly with screenings. I want to organize conferences with panels on tentacle hentai and "str8" boy amateur gay porn and real vs staged BDSM and the fake lesbian porn with the long, long fingernails. I want to make it a new critical genre! I want to organize classes in it!
The real barrier, as I see it, is distribution. The thing I've learned from graduate student conferences is that there's nothing duller than listening to someone go on and on about a book you haven't read. (This is universally true and should also be remembered by people trying to explain about shows that other people don't watch. It's not interesting. Sorry. You have to stop now.) So in order for the genre to work, there'd be a lot of pre-requisite reading/viewing.
And given that I am one of two women I know, outside the internet, who will sit around discussing the relative merits of porn, I just don't think I can convince people to admit they did the pre-reading.

 | 12:15 am - Jane thinks about sex. All the time. It's very sad.
jack_pride and I wound up talking tonight about how little written smut reflects the reality of sex. Not just that sex rarely goes as smoothly as written smut, but that, really, the sex in most smut would be boring if you were actually having it. It's all about penetration, fucking, and (near) simultaneous orgasm. Me, I blame Lady Chatterley's Lover, which I accept most writers haven't read (thank god), but which seems to have set the mould for the modern sex scene. In fact, most of us learned to write sex scenes from romance novels, which is kind of sad, but those scenes are mostly done on the Lady Chatterley model.
So I've started a list of things which I know to be true of sex -- even, maybe especially, good sex -- which are seldom, if ever, reflected in fic.
( Hmm. Sex. )
I've found that the more sex I have (woo hoo!), the less I'm able to write it (damn!). And I suspect that this is part of a process of shaking off my received practices of pornography in favour of something that reflects my experience. Unfortunately, that's insanely harder, and less universally recognizable, and while I'm working it out, I produce less porn, which is disappointing even to me.

 | 06:56 pm - for WiP Amnesty Day This was started back in the Season of Porn (roughly February to August 2001), during which time I spent about eight hours a day with thete1, churning out fic at a rate that I've never been able to replicate. A lot got posted. Some things were never finished. Poor old Peter Parker's been trapped in mid-sex-scene for almost three freaking years.
But this is not about Peter. This is about Giles. And Buffy. And this thing that I started back in '01, and I bang out about one more paragraph per year. It may be finished before I die, but I doubt it.
